 Navarathri: Nava (9), Rathri (Nights)

This Holy Festival is celebrated to worship the glory of Goddess Shakti in three of her most powerful forms -Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathy.

One participates in this celebration by holding a personal tavas (discipline), by seeking Her Blessings and guidance to invoke the Shakti (strength), needed for personal quest and transformation by winning the battle against the demon within.

The first three days Durga is worshipped to invoke the base energy to hold the tavas. Then, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped for blessings, creation and abundance for oneself and the world. The last three days, Goddess Saraswathy is worshipped for the blessings of nyana (inner knowledge) one has to acquire and embody. All these culminate as Vijaya Dhasami, the 10th day Celebration where the victory of the tavas/battle is celebrated.

This is an invitation to all to join and participate in this year’s Navarathri celebration and rise to the best one can be.

Goddess Lakshmi – Blessing / Creation and Wealth For Oneself And The World: 24 – 26 September

Cut For Love – Hair donation Campaign for Cancer patient

16-Sep-2017 – 16-Sep-2017

noble event (Cut For Love – Hair donation Campaign for Cancer patient) schedule on the 16 Sep 2017.This is an Non- profitable event to support and show our love toward the cancer patient.Hair loss as a result of cancer treatments can be devastating to a woman’s self-esteem as well as emotionally distressing as they feel others will realize they are sick. Many patients report feeling insecure about their appearance during this time and isolate themselves from others as a result of this. In our part of the world, the social pressure on maintaining one’s physical appearance makes it even harder for women to cope with the disease. They fear others finding out about their condition due to the stigma still associated with breast cancer and treating them differently. As such, the majority of cancer patients rely heavily on wigs during chemotherapy to help them look and feel more like themselves again. Unfortunately, natural (human-hair) wigs which are the most comfortable, durable and physically- appealing for patients are also quite costly – especially in considering the high medical expenses and bills one incurs during treatment. As part of our mission to enrich the lives of cancer patients and boost their sense of well-being during treatment, KANAVUGAL MEIPADA VENDUM (KMV) launched the CUT FOR LOVE: HAIR DONATION CAMPAIGN to collect as many ponytails as possible from across Malaysia to be able to create and provide wigs for all those who can’t afford one. We target around 100 hair donors.
